Media Center Policies
Important Points
A valid Freedom High School ID
card is required to check out any materials from the Media
Center. There will be no
exceptions to this rule. Books
may be renewed when due: simply bring the book and your
Freedom ID card to the circulation desk. Students may place
a "hold" on books which are not available. When the book is
returned, a notice will be sent through the first period
teacher to notify the student that the book is available
for pickup.
Overdue Materials
It is the student's
responsibility to keep track of when materials are due and
return or renew them promptly. Fines are charged for
overdue materials. Students are not fined for weekends or
days the Media Center is closed. The fine schedule is shown
below:
- Regular fiction and nonfiction - .10 cents/day
- Reference Materials - .25 cents/day
Overdue notices will be distributed through a
student’s first period class on a monthly basis.
Student Responsibility
According to OCPS policy,
students are responsible for any item checked out in their
name. Students who lose or damage Media Center materials or
Freedom High School textbooks will be asked to pay for
them. Students are advised not to checkout materials for
friends, unless they are willing to take responsibility for
that item if it is lost or damaged.
